Go deeper into the mathematics you teach every day
LTD masterclasses unpack the ideas, representations and teaching decisions behind important primary maths topics. Each session strengthens classroom practice rather than simply adding another certificate to a folder.
A consistent set of presenter-led thumbnails covering place value, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, fractions, assessment and early number. Each thumbnail should include presenter image, topic title, relevant mathematical representation, duration and live or on-demand label.

Place value
Explore counting, reading and writing numbers, making and representing, comparing and ordering, unitising and renaming, and using place value in calculation. Particular attention is given to concepts pupils often appear to know until the representation changes.
Addition and subtraction
Examine the progression from counting to additive thinking, part-whole relationships, number bonds, basic fact strategies, mental calculation and written methods. See how ten-frames, number lines and part-whole models support different stages.
Multiplication and division
Build from equal groups and arrays towards basic fact strategies, inverse relationships, factors, multiples and larger-number calculation. The focus is on teaching facts through connected strategies before expecting efficient recall.
Fractions
Develop fractions as numbers and relationships, not only shaded shapes. Use unit fractions, equivalence, number lines, fraction strips and area models to connect understanding with calculation.
Assessment and diagnostic teaching
Learn how to interpret responses, identify the idea behind an error and use the finding to plan a teaching sequence. Explore the difference between a procedural slip, a fragile strategy and a conceptual misconception.
Early number
Explore counting, subitising, composition, comparison, the structure of five and ten and the move towards flexible early calculation.
