Questions about LTD
Find clear answers about how the lesson collection works, who can access it and how LTD can be used in classrooms and schools. Final commercial and legal answers must be updated once the UK offer is confirmed.
General
What is Learning Through Doing Mathematics?
LTD is a practical primary maths teaching collection that combines curriculum planning, detailed lessons, short modelled videos, hands-on activities, visual representations, independent tasks, assessment and professional learning.
What makes an LTD lesson different?
Every lesson follows a connected Whole Class, Hands-On and Independent structure. The activity, resources and independent work all develop the same mathematical idea rather than operate as separate parts.
Is LTD a scheme of work?
LTD can provide a complete teaching framework with yearly overviews and sequenced lessons. Schools can also use selected LTD content alongside an existing scheme. The final curriculum plan remains the responsibility of the school.
Is hands-on learning only for younger pupils?
No. The representation changes as the mathematics becomes more complex. Older pupils can still benefit from place value counters, arrays, fraction models, number lines, ratio tables and other tools when they reveal useful structure.
Curriculum and year groups
Which year groups are covered?
The UK collection is being organised from Reception to Year 6. Publish this answer only when all promised year-group content is ready.
Is LTD aligned with the UK curriculum?
There is no single UK curriculum. The initial UK site is organised for the Early Years Foundation Stage and National Curriculum in England. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland require separate curriculum mapping.
Can I use LTD in a mixed-age class?
Yes, the concept progressions and related lesson sequences can support mixed-age planning. Dedicated mixed-age documents will be listed only for combinations that are available.
Can I find lessons for pupils working below the year-group expectation?
Yes. Topic progressions allow teachers to trace back to an earlier concept and choose a suitable lesson. The focus should remain on the mathematical need rather than labelling the pupil by a lower year group.
Teacher membership
Can an individual teacher join?
Yes. Individual membership provides access for one named teacher. Confirm the exact content included before publication.
Can I share my account with colleagues?
No, individual accounts are for the named member. Schools needing several users should choose school access. Add final wording from the licence terms.
Can I print resources for my class?
Members can print included resources for use with their own class, subject to the final UK licence. Resources may not be redistributed, uploaded publicly or shared across an unlicensed school.
What happens when my membership ends?
Online access ends in line with the subscription terms. Confirm the rules for previously downloaded files before publication.

Can LTD work alongside our current scheme?
Yes. Schools may use LTD to provide selected lessons, practical pedagogy, assessment or intervention alongside another scheme or teaching approach, subject to normal licence terms.

[Insert the verified answer following the UK data-protection review.]
How does intervention work?
Staff use diagnostic evidence to select a focused sprint, teach a short sequence with modelled videos and hands-on resources, then review progress and decide the next step.
Can teaching assistants deliver the intervention?
Yes, where the school has selected and trained suitable staff and the class teacher remains connected. The modelled videos and plans support preparation, but school leadership remains responsible for deployment and oversight.
CPD and support
Is professional learning included?
Teacher background and modelled videos are built into the lesson collection. Additional masterclasses, live training, coaching or on-site support depend on the selected membership or school package.
Can LTD provide whole-school CPD?
Yes, subject to availability and an agreed proposal. Sessions can focus on a mathematical topic, implementation, assessment, intervention or maths leadership.
